I just read the most disturbing article ever! I can't believe that people can actually be that SICK! Don't read this if you're easily disturbed!...

Did you ever have one of those days when you wish that something... ANYTHING... would happen that would let you get out of work... power failure, network crash, alien invasion, the building getting destroyed during a battle between godzilla-sized Barbara Streisand & Robert Smith... but alas, 'tis not meant to be... I have to stay here at work, and try to force myself to actually do something... Stupid fridays at work...rrrrrrr...

Yes! Ginger Snaps II is coming out tomorrow... apparently it's only going to be in theatres in canada... I MUST see it in the theatre... I loved the first one... glad to be canadian! Lates! (wow... that's even annoying to WRITE!)

Damnit! I just bought some Jolly Ranchers from the vending machine... but it turns out that they're actually Jolly Rancher NEW! Fruit Chews... Now who ever ate a Jolly Rancher candy and thought, "boy, I really wish that I could eat this faster! The flavor really lasts too long" ... argh... damn food engineers (if that's what they are)...

First off, I would like to thank Rob C for a link to the best hitting-penguins-with-a-baseball-bat game that I've ever played (Penguins).... today seems to have potential... and I'm not going to justify that statement! Don't try to bring me down! anyway... for some reason I'm in a pretty good mood right now... maybe it was due to tension-relief through penguin-wacking!... whatever... Let's hope for the best!

well, feeling productive was nice while it lasted... all 5 minutes worth! A couple of us here have spent pretty much the whole day working on this little problem... mind you, it's not actually MY problem.. it's a hardware problem.. but eventually my boss is going to get a "how long can it possibly take this moron [me] to fix a problem?" attitude.... apparently it can take this moron a freakin' long time!

I actually spent most of yesterday doing work... which is very unusual for me... I'm beginning to feel productive for the first time at a job. But on the downside, today, I am le tired... I wish I could have a nap... but, I have to do some more work... Is this how most people feel at work? I'm not used to working for more than half the day... I've read so few news articles in the past couple of days that I'm beginning to feel out of touch with the world! I need some of those glasses with the eyes painted on the lenses so that I can take naps at work... or maybe if I just make sure that I"m facing away from the doorway...zzzz... :)

I'm at work... it's apparently the biggest snowstorm to hit toronto in years, but here I am, hoping that I don't get stuck on my way home through the extra 15 cm of snow that's supposed to fall throughout the day. The drive in actually wasn't so bad because a lot of people stayed home today (lucky bastards!)... but it seems that most people in this building came in (god forbid we stop working on a LCD monitor/tv chip for one day! The whole world would probably stop spinning!)... I guess the weather's bringing out the worst in me... but it could have been worse... I could have been stuck in the elevator like some other people were. I wonder if they're out yet....

I thought that snow was supposed to fall in a downward direction... hence the word "snowFALL"... apparently, I was mistaken... it's 4:45pm... just looked outside... the snow appears to be moving horizontally! The drive home is going to be a freakin' blast! So... it looks like a late night for me! DAMN!! Maybe someone will tell me not to come in tomorrow (yeah, right)...

Just waiting for the storm... So there's this huge winter storm watch/warning for southern ontario... apparently we're supposed to get 10-15 cm's of snow tonight... It's supposed to start before rush hour but I'm hoping that it won't happen at all... If it happens that way then I'll probably be at work until around 8pm (not cool)... but as of 3:30ish... nothing... keep your fingers crossed...

Ok.. for two weeks people have seen me, several times a day, walk into the lunch room, and get a glass of water from the tap... Today, I discovered that there's actually a water cooler in the lunch room! Couldn't someone have told me? rrrr....

What work ensemble would be complete without the newest craze sweeping the fashion industry... the backpack! I felt like a real chump walking into work today... dress shirt & pants, leather coat.. and my cool-ass schoolbag draped over my shoulder! Yeah! not only that... but what's in the schoolbag? My videogame system... sigh... I guess entering geekdom was inevidable when working in the computer industry...

Today is going to be really slack! A Slack-Fest, Slack-O-Rama, An Extra-Tasty-Crispy Bucket-O-Slack... now.. allow me to explain.. NO, you shuttup, you! You're letting me explain and you'll LIKE IT! anyway, as I was saying before I was so rudely interrupted... Slack Day... Why? because, for one thing, I just got here... and at 11:30-1:00 I'm going to lunch with the other co-ops here (whom I haven't met yet)... then I'm leaving early to drive to G-town to play some video games... (yes I know... I'm 8 years old... but I'm an 8 year old with a car! In your face!) ... that's all she wrote... I'm OUT! Peace!

I hate snow! I'm sitting here at work waiting for traffic to clear up... but it doesn't seem to be happening... argh... stupid people who can't drive in a couple of cm's of snow...rrrrrrrrrr....

I'm going nuts here (at work obviously)! I've actually been working for most of the day and I don't think that my brain can handle it... Now I'm feeling tired AND restless... interesting combination... I want to go home... But I won't... :( Ooh... I got an e-mail... hold on a sec... (yes, I realize that people reading this won't actually have to wait)

Alrighty, I'm back... apparently my weekend plans have been changed (again)... it's a real pain in the ass trying to make time for everything during the weekend when people keep changing the plans... oh well, nothing I can do about it...

Overwhelmed! My job right now is to play around with some microchips and circuitboards to do basically whatever I want... I was told to "have fun"... I've been looking at code for over a full day and I thought that I was starting to understand how it works... But alas, I don't know as much as I thought I did... (insert your own sarcastic remark here)...

This job seems to be pretty cool... and apparently I'm doing an okay job so far... we'll see if I can pull it together and actually figure out what on earth I'm doing... Say a little prayer for me! :P

Had to wake up early this morning to drive SOMEONE to the subway station (not naming any names!!!)... So I got to work before 9 today... on my way in, there was one point that traffic was pretty much stopped for about 5-10 min... and of course during this time none of the 5 radio stations that I listen to were playing music... some girl on 98.5 was talking about how there was "something wrong" with the way Paula Abdul looked on american Idol last night... and they were taking callers to discuss it! now THAT's quality radio! (I hope that the sarcasm was clear)...

I'm getting tired of needing passwords for everything... and every site has different requirements for passwords.... So, the idea behind the complex password rules is to avoid anyone else figuring out your passwords... and, you're not supposed to write down you passwords because people might find them on your computer... but if you don't write them down, you'll forget them because you need so many to fit the stupid password choice rules... argh!

So today, i signed up for a new hotmail account because I didn't want to display the e-mail address that I use on Google Groups (I had to post a programming question)... I filled in my name as Rob T... then I tried to put in one of my standard passwords, and got the error: "Your password cannot contain your last name"... so basically, i had to come up with a password with no 't' in it... stupid passwords!

hhh-okay... so... I'm thinking that coming in to work late is a really good thing... lately it's been taking me over half an hour (quite often closer to a full hour) to get to work which sucks because it isn't really that far... but today I left my house late (...they say that waking up is hard to doooo!) and it only took me about 15 min to drive to work... such a sweet deal I have here...

anyway... on sunday night I was so happy because it was warm and I got my car washed (I'm easily amused).. But, being the clever person that I am, didn't realize that the temperature was going to plummit that night. So I get up in the morning and... the lock on the driver side door is frozen... alright.. fine... try the passenger side... lock works... but the door is frozen shut... took me about 5 minutes just to get a door open (passenger side)... so I reach over unlock the driver door and push it open... there, no big deal... I'm off to work!

...NOPE! I get in (driver side) turn on the car and close the door.... it bounces back open... so now I'm IN my car... but I can't close my door.. something is still frozen in side of it... I try jiggling the handles... no effect... I try fiddling with the mechanism (On the door you sicko!) ... no effect... maybe I'll fiddle with the lock... I try locking it again... it locks, but won't unlock... so I try (halfheartedly) to shut the door... it closes... but because I didn't use much force it's only closed halfway... AND now it's locked again... so I slide over to the passenger side, get out, walk around the car and do the old hip-check-the-door maneover. Then walk around get back in the passenger side, slide over (not an easy process) and I'm off... by the time I get to work my door works again... ordeal over!

....NOPE! last night after work... I unlock my door... get in ... close the door... BOUNCE!... so I lock it (again, it won't unlock) and close it... same deal this morning too... so my door doesn't close when it's cold out...

the morale of this story is.... I'm a dumbass... :(

so anyway, I've reached the worst part in finishing a work related task.... DOCUMENTATION!!! AHHHHH! For those of you who are in a field such that you don't understand why documentation is such a dreaded thing, let me try to explain. Just try to imagine finishing a task at work (could be a short task or one that's taken months to finish), then you have to go back and write an explanation about every step that you've taken (code commenting)... then, you must also write another document explaining how the thing that you've created works.

Doesn't sound so bad, does it? Here's the catch... the latter documentation must be written with such drawn out, step-by-insignificantly-small-step, I-wanna-jab-myself-in-the-eye thoroughness so that even someone who doesn't know what a computer IS can use it. Nevermind the fact that if people can't figure out how to use a program with three buttons and a text box they shouldn't be in front of a computer to begin with!

BTW- this rant doesn't actually apply to the documentation that I have to write currently... again, I'm just adjusting to the highly-sarcastic, I-hate-everything kind of blog writing style that seems so popular these days...

Alright so, here we go... as per usual I'm hopping on another bandwagon long after it's past it's prime (a la ICQ)... I've got free time so I'm giving this whole "BLOG" thing a try... Let's see if I can even get the free-flowing-rant-like feel to my posts? How's it going so far?

Anyway, I'll probably be posting a couple times a day for now... just as a stalling technique at work (like I need another one)...
